Homeowners’ family history, heritage and culture take on a whole new meaning in HGTV's new series, Revealed, starring uber creative designer and mom of two Veronica Valencia Hughes. The show hits HGTV Thursday June 29 at 10|9c.

"As a Mexican and Native American designer, culture and tradition have always played a vital role in my life, " says Veronica. "I've been inspired to tell a family's story through design in more than 500 home renovations, and I believe that discovering our roots can profoundly influence every aspect of our lives."

In each episode, Veronica and her team sit down with clients to learn about their family background and meaningful moments from their past. She then consults a genealogist to discover even more about her clients’ cultural identity. Armed with this information, she creates a life-size mood board inspired by the aesthetic details of their family story. Then, alongside her expert team — design guru Tommy Rouse, master builder David Bohler and talented artist Joshua Smith — she transforms the home, creating beautiful and modern spaces that honor the families' cultural heritage. Veronica also takes on special heirloom projects, such as artwork and artifacts, that weave the homeowners’ personal legacies into the overall design.

In the first episode, Veronica meets the Billups who yearn for a home that celebrates their roots and their history. Veronica learns more about the family’s West African origins and pays tribute by creating a sculpture inspired by the ancient Benin Bronzes. Throughout the series, Veronica incorporates creative and thoughtful heirloom pieces into each home, including a vintage style record console and a display case full of sentimental items honoring passed loved ones. She also spotlights cherished family photos and mementos previously stored away to renew each family’s connection to their ancestors.
